GOLF CHÂTEAU-BROMONT – The Québec Open powered by Vidéotron Affaires came to a close on Sunday with a rain-soaked 4th round. American Davis Lamb finished top of the leaderboard with 8 birdies, winning his second consecutive tournament on the PGA TOUR Canada.
This final round was marked by a rain delay of around an hour.
“I knew the others would be on my heels for the whole day,” expressed champion Lamb, “I had to make as many birdies as possible, wait for the rain delay to pass, then come back to make more birdies.” It was a sprint with a stop in the middle, but it was a lot of fun.”
Lamb, champion twice this season, is just one more victory away from automatic qualification for the Korn Ferry Tour, the antechamber to the PGA TOUR.
Among the Quebecers, Joey Savoie, a member of the top 5 at the start of the day, was unable to keep up the pace, ending his day at +3, good for 19th place.
Étienne Papineau once again wowed the large crowd at Golf Château-Bromont, firing a 63. Despite a difficult first round, the Fortinet Cup leader prior to Lamb’s victory finished in 16th place.
Raoul Ménard, with a 3-under-par 67, finished 24th and earns his PGA TOUR Canada cards for the rest of the season.
Brandon Lacasse, 36th, and Étienne Brault, 45th, complete the group of 5 Quebecers who survived the weekend.
This week, the PGA TOUR Canada travels to Ottawa for the first edition of the Commissionaires Ottawa Open.
