The Bromont Open 2024, presented by Desjardins, marked a decisive turning point for professional golf in Quebec. As the only Quebec stop on the North American PGA TOUR Americas circuit, the tournament attracted international golf attention. Renamed this year as the “Bromont Open” (formerly the Quebec Open), the event not only exceeded expectations in terms of participation and organization but also created an atmosphere filled with pride and emotion for all participants and spectators.

  • International Participation: Over 250 professional golfers from 16 countries in Asia, Europe, and America competed, offering a top-tier sporting spectacle.
  • Intense Qualifications: 130 players attempted to qualify at the Cowansville course, with only 4 spots available for the main tournament.
  • Performance of Local Athletes: Quebec golfers such as Joey Savoie, Laurent Desmarchais, and Jean-Philip Parr shone, exciting the local crowd.

  • Record Attendance: Over 5,500 spectators attended the tournament, generating at least 1,800 overnight stays and boosting the local economy.
  • Economic Benefits: The event generated an estimated $1 million for the region, highlighting the importance of the Bromont Open for regional economic development.

Charitable Donation and Eco-Responsibility

  • Support to Local Organizations: A generous donation of $60,000 was distributed among four regional organizations: Fondation des sports adaptés, Maison Au Diapason, Fondation Christian Vachon, and Centre de pédiatrie sociale.
  • Volunteer Engagement: More than 287 volunteers, orchestrated by Luc-André Nadeau, contributed to the success of the event. Their dedication was praised by all.
  • Green Initiatives: Use of recycled products, composting of unused food, and offsetting GHG emissions by planting trees demonstrated the event’s ecological commitment.

A Success Recognized by the PGA TOUR Americas

As you may already know, this was the very first Quebec tournament since the inception of the PGA TOUR Americas, which now combines the Canadian and Latin American circuits. The circuit’s top management expressed their satisfaction with how the events unfolded.
