The organizers of the Quebec Open powered by Vidéotron Business, in collaboration with Golf Québec, are proud to announce the exemptions granted to 7 Quebec players allowing them to participate in the PGA TOUR Canada tournament, which will be held from July 13 to 16 at Golf Château-Bromont.
Jean-Philippe Parr, 18 years old from Saint-Célestin, and Laurent Desmarchais, 22 years old from Longueuil, both members of Team Canada and Tennessee Men’s Golf in the NCAA, will be making their first appearance in a PGA TOUR Canada tournament. Desmarchais currently holds the course record at Golf Château-Bromont.
Three players will be making their second consecutive appearance at the Quebec Open: Brandon Lacasse and Dom Lalonde, both from Châteauguay, along with Marc-Olivier Plasse from Mercier. It’s worth mentioning that Lalonde, who narrowly missed qualifying for the RBC Canadian Open last month, received his exemption through his performance at the PGA of Québec’s qualifying event.
Finally, veterans Yohann Benson and Marc Hurtubise will be participating in the tournament. A well-known figure in Quebec golf, Benson was a full-time player on the PGA TOUR Canada from 2008 to 2013 before becoming a caddy on the PGA TOUR. He is currently a host on RDS.
The first Quebecer to earn his PGA professional cards, Hurtubise, participated in the PGA TOUR Canada from 2003 to 2009 and in two Champions Tour tournaments in 2014. He will represent Bromont at the Open, serving as a professional at Le Parcours du Vieux Village golf course.
They will join an already rich cohort of Quebec players, including Étienne Papineau, the leader of the PGA TOUR Canada’s Fortinet Cup, Joey Savoie, and Raoul Ménard.
